FM calls on PSBs to provide easy loans to Kisan credit card holders

The Minister of Finance had a long meeting with the CEOs of public sector banks a few days ago

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman appealed to public sector banks to provide easy loans to Kisan Credit Card (KCC) holders to boost villagers’ income.

Continuous efforts are being made by the central government to increase farmers’ incomes. In this, thanks to the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi program, more than 10 million eligible farmers receive Rs 6000 per year. This amount is given in three installments of Rs 2,000 each. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman issued guidelines to banks taking into account the economic situation of farmers.

The Minister of Finance had a long conversation a few days ago with the CEOs of public sector banks. During this, she had asked to help the Regional Rural Banks to upgrade the technology.

After the meeting, Minister of Fisheries, Livestock and Dairy, Purushottam Rupala said that the Minister of Finance had reviewed Kisan’s (KCC Yojana) credit card scheme during this period. At the same time, he thought about how institutional credit could be made available to farmers. Minister of State for Finance, Bhagwat K Karad, said the meeting was chaired by the Minister of Finance and discussions were held on issuing KCCs to those engaged in the fisheries and dairy sector.

Rupala also informed that in another session, it was decided that regional rural banks sponsor banks should help in digitalization and improving technology. Regional rural banks play an important role in agricultural lending.
