Grenades thrown at security forces in Kutpora from J&K; weapons, ammunition recovered after search operation

Kutpora: Security forces have launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) at Kutpora in Shopian of Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmir Area Police informed on Wednesday.

During the search operation, the terrorists threw grenades at the search party and escaped taking advantage of the darkness.

However, police and security forces destroyed a hiding place inside a house and recovered weapons and ammunition.

Kashmir Area Police tweeted: “On specific entrance, Security forces launched CASO in Kutpora, #Shopian. During search, #terrorists threw grenades at search team. The search team also returned fire. # hiding inside a house and recovering weapons/amns.”

Meanwhile, a Kashmiri pandit was shot dead and his brother injured after terrorists fired on them at an apple orchard in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday.

The incident happened in an apple orchard in the Chotipora region.

The deceased has been identified as Sunil Kumar Bhat. His brother Pintu was injured.

Terrorists have resorted to targeted killings in the valley. In June 2022, a bank manager, identified as Vijay Kumar, was shot dead outside his office by terrorists in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, on May 31, Rajni Bala, a Hindu teacher, was shot dead by terrorists in Kulgam district of Kashmir.

That same month, two civilians, including Rahul Bhat, an employee of Kashmiri Pandit, and three off-duty police officers were killed in Kashmir by terrorists.
